Summary
If you have both the Chrome app force installed for your users and the native app for Windows or Mac installed concurrently, you will experience duplicate printers when printing from within Chrome on Windows or Mac.
Some printers in Chrome will have 'Printing by directprint.io' (or similar) against the names, others without a tag will be the system-level printers installed by the Native directprint.io Mac or Windows application.
This article shows how to prevent the printer duplication in Chrome on Mac and Windows, reducing user confusion.
How to resolve printer duplication
Step 1: Create a OS-specific policy
1. Under 'System Configuration -> Policies', define a new policy.
2. Give the policy a name.
3. Scroll down to 'Manage Native vs browser Clients' section:
4. Select the following configuration, which:
a) Enables printing on Chromebooks
b) Prevents the Chrome-specific printers from showing on Mac and Windows
5. Save the policy.
Step 2: Attach the policy
6. Attach the resulting policy to a printer/room/region/org/OU or Group according to your needs:
Google OU example follows (select the name of the policy you created above)
