Manual installation
If you do not use Google Workspace (G Suite), then it's likely that you'll have 'unmanaged' Chromebooks.
Admins without Google Workspace (G Suite) will want to manually install and configure the application on their target devices.
This article explains how to install and configure the client application for printing.
Step 1
Install the directprint.io print client application from the Chrome store.
Show app in-store (link opens new window)
On the Chromebook or Chrome OS device, open the directprint.io application from the launch menu.
Step 2
To install printers into the application enter a 4 character QuickCode into the client application,
then hit 'Go'
If the QuickCode is valid the client will automatically install the printers and related printer policies into the client operating system. The printer will now appear in the system printing menu on the Chromebook or Chrome OS device.
To test that the printers have been installed correctly try printing a page (Ctrl-p) or select File->print from the Chrome menu. Selecting Change printer will give the full list of the printers that have been installed.
